Weight of Easykart 60cc stays at 245lbs
7- 27-08 Easykart America had asked for feedback and our Easykart community have responded well with emails to our office in a timely manner. Many thanks for the various responses and all opinions are duly noted.
To emphasis this was at the requests of some Easykart parents NOT the Easykart Administration. Easykart remains firm in it's decision to maintain the current weight of 245lbs. This weight was decided on by two factors: the additional weight of the rear bumper loops and the slightly heavier new model Easykart 60cc, Easykart has always felt that this is the proper direction.
Consequently, the weight of 245lbs will remain the minimum weight of the Easykart 60cc Class. There will be NO CHANGE in the weight!!!
For comparison purposes the Rotax Minimax class is set at 265lbs for a similar age group.

2008 EASYKART GRAND NATIONALS
The 2008 USA Easykart Grand Nationals scheduled for the Homestead Karting track in South Florida will be held on September 25 - 28th 2008.
Easykart's Rudy Ramsaroop and Homestead Karting's Tony Schroder have been working on much different track layout for this race to eliminate any home track advantage of the very accomplished South Florida Easykart drivers. This reconfigured layout will only be available starting with the official practice day on Thursday Sept 25th.
There is much anticipation for this year's Grand Final as the much coveted prizes of trips to the Easykart World Finals in Jesolo, Italy are on the line once more. The qualifiers for the Easykart Grand Nationals have been well attended and there is much anxiety as the last few rounds at the various tracks are scheduled to run. Drivers are required to compete in a minimum of four races in any Easykart Championship Series at any participating track.
Easykart Americas is expecting participation from its many overseas competitors in the Caribbean, Central America and South America. As with last year, these competitors will not be eligible for the USA Prizes. The 2008 Prizes will be an all expenses paid trip to the 2008 Easykart Worlds for the 2008 Champions crowned at Homestead in Easykart 60cc, Easykart 100cc, Easykart 125cc Light and Easykart 125cc Heavy. Winners will receive FREE airfare, FREE Hotel and an Easykart to compete at the World Finals.

EASYKART GRABS TAG POLE AT MONTICELLO WKA RACE
Monticello, FL, May 3-4, 2008
Easykarts excelled in TAG competition at the Monticello round of the Florida Kart Championship Series. With an 18 kart field comprised of Leopards, Soniks, Rotax, a Rok TT and Easykarts the entire field of karts were sent out at once for qualifying in order to give all drivers equal time on the track. After one lap, local driver Nick Rickert (kart #38) pulled his Monticello Karting Easykart into the pits and would stand on his time of 57.892. Rickert's time would end up being a new track record and good enough for pole by .714 seconds, his 2nd of the weekend. Rickert also captured the Easykart 125 Lite pole and new track record of 57.132.
The pre-final was all Rickert as he checked out on the field to the tune of 4.895 seconds over Tallahassee, FL's, Chris Grektorp in his Gillard who came up from his 5th place starting position. The drive of the weekend had to be south Florida's Dane Ierna's drive to 3rd after starting last. Ierna had to make a kart change to his trusty Easykart after his Leopard powered CRG had engine troubles. Ierna passed 9 karts in his first two laps of the race and would also record the quickest race lap on his way thru the pack.
The final was the race of the weekend, as Grektorp, Rickert and Ierna proceeded to set a blistering pace on the field. Grektorp got the jump on the start and would head into turn two with Ierna in 2nd and Rickert in 3rd. The two Easykarts of Ierna and Rickert hooked up to try and motor past Grektorp and on lap 6 Ierna bobbled off turn 17 and gave up the position to Rickert. But even after the positions switched neither driver had enough to pass Grektorp and he would finish 1st just .053 ahead of Rickert in 2nd and .608 ahead of Ierna.
Based on the results of the first couple of races in the FKCS the Easykart 125 has proven to be very competitive regionally at the new WKA weight of 350 lbs. Nick Rikert took the win at the season opener at Jacksonville back in March.
Pic below show Nick Rickert #38 leading the TAG field on pace lap.

Easykart Americas at PRI Show
Orlando FL
Dec 5-6-7th 2007

Easykart Americas had a great response with an attractive display at this year's PRI Show (Performance Racing Industry Show) in Orlando last week. The Show was well attended by buyers from throughtout the USA and Canada, and this exposed the Easykart Program to a very large and diverse group of companies all involved in Motorsports. With the great amount of interest generated here, Easykart Americas is looking forward to signing some new Dealers and also some new Easykarters throughout North America.
The themes were "making karting simple and affordable" and "easy does it" and "spec racing at it's best". The presence of Easykart among the other major importers was very effective in highlighting the simplicity and affordability of the Easykart program.
On hand was 6-Time World Champion, Mike Wilson (International Representative of Birel Spa, manufacturer of Easykart), seen below autographing the helmet of Easykart Driver Eric Filgueiras (Eric volunteered his time to help Easykart at the Show).

Easykart Americas looking forward to 2008
Miami FL
11-26-07
As another year comes to a close and Easykart Americas looks towards the New Year, it is important for us all to remember that the Easykart program is in a rebuilding stage. The past year has seen many improvements in the operations of Easykart Americas and a renewed interest in the Easykart Project throughout the USA.
There are many positives in costs savings that the Easykart program offers that no other International Program offers. Spec sprockets, spec chassis, spec (unmodified) motors, spec chassis components (axles, hubs, wheels, spindles etc), spec tires, spec spark plugs, spec oil, spec fuel etc. Easykart owners who are not experienced karters may not realize the true impact of these specifications and how it translates into real cost savings, but experienced karters do understand this well. In the past, Easykart America has marketed the Easykart program as a sealed engine program alongside the other cost savings benefits. The focus has never been on one single component but rather collectively the entire Easykart package. The Easykart program stands out from all other karting programs for its low entry costs and its restrictive rules and controlled costs while utilizing a spec chassis and spec engine with all spec components. There is no other karting program of this profile internationally.
It is Easykart Americas' intention to eventually adopt all the rules of Easykart International. The 2008 racing season will continue to be a transitional year during which more rules that will be in line with Easykart International will be implemented. In the immediate future of Easykart, the engine seals will NOT BE removed as there are very many tech issues that have to be sorted through before that can be implemented. Birel Spa, the parent company of Easykart, has committed their resources to train a group of USA Tech Personnel in proper tech procedures so that the USA Easykart customer base will have confidence in the Easykart system. This will be an extensive training program, so that Easykart Americas can support a large national program in the USA.
Easykart International does allow for any addendums to its rules with the proper approvals of Birel Spa. So as we move forward with the Easykart Project in the USA, any special considerations will be reviewed and carefully analyzed with regards the USA market as well as the global Easykart community.
Easykart Americas wishes to thank all of its Dealers and customers for their continued support as we work through this restructuring process.

Easykart 60cc: Qualifying saw Pietro Fittipaldi (grandson of Emerson Fittipaldi) blitzed the 19 kart field by over three tenths of a second to take the pole positions for the heat, with Bobby Stevens second, and rookie Albert Naon in third. Heat One produced incredibly close racing as the lead pack of 6 karts broke away and drafted away from the rest of the field. In the end it was Mauricio Andres Baiz (Venezuela), taking the win with Evan Mehan second, Pietro Fittipaldi third, local favorite Drew Kimbrel fourth, Bobby Stevens fifth and Ian Walter rounding out the lead pack of 6. The top were all within a second of each other at the finish. Heat Two was all Pietro Fittipaldi with Kimbrel, Stevens, Baiz, and Naon rounding out the top five in yet another close heat. Heat Three saw a bit of a shake up out front as front runners Ian Walter and Fittipaldi were involved in an incident relegating them to 15th and 13th respectively. At the front it was Kimbrel, Baiz, and Naon. However after tech Drew Kimbrel was disqualified handing the win to Mauricio Andres Baiz. Naon, Stevens, Jorge Sagarra and Nicholas Shealy rounded out the top 5.
This set the stage for the final with Baiz on pole, followed by Stevens, Fittipaldi, Naon and Mehan. From the drop of the green flag the drivers jostled for position with Fittipaldi and Baiz getting together in turn one, with Baiz unable to continue and Fittipaldi losing many positions and falling back to fifteenth. Meanwhile, Drew Kimbrel and Bobby Stevens were able to check out due to the Baiz and Fittipaldi incident and began their own private fight up front. These two drivers traded the lead many times. Meanwhile Fittipaldi charged through the field. In the second pack it was Naon, Luigi Luciani, Walters, Kraft and Ace Fernandez trading positions drafting in the Fangio turn. At the end it was the local hotshot Drew Kimbrel taking the lead on the white flag lap and maintaining it to lead Bobby Stevens over the stripe by two tenths to take the win and the trip to Italy. In third, was Fittipaldi after a brilliant charge after his lap one incident, Albert Naon and Luigi Luciani rounded out the top five. Fittipaldi set the fastest lap of the final while charging through the field.
Kimbrel was ecstatic to bag this win over Stevens and Fittipaldi as he has been in go-karts only fourteen months. His grand-father Cecil Hightower was quick to point out that he put Drew in an Easykart as he felt it was his best opportunity to shorten his learning curve as a driver. The Kimbrel family plans to accompany Drew on his quest to win a World Championship in Italy in just over a month.

Drew Kimbrel #20 - 2007 Easykart 60cc Grand National Champion
Easykart 100cc : In qualifying, it was Daniel Formal taking the pole three tenths ahead of Alex Karabourniotis with defending 2006 Easykart 100cc National Champion, Joffrey Amaya, in second and Eric Filgueiras (2006 Easykart 60cc Champion) and Lucas Rego rounding out the top five. Heat One was all Formal as he opened up an early one second gap over Amaya and maintained it throughout the heat. The battle for third between Filgueiras and Nick Rickert raged throughout the heat with Filgueiras taking 3rd and Rickert 4th. Heat Two was more of the same for Formal as he built an early gap over Rego and kept it throughout the heat. Once again the main battle on track was for the 3rd position with Amaya taking it over Rickert and Karabourniotis after trading this position back and forth. Formal completed his sweep in Heat Three taking a narrow victory over Karabourniotis with Filgueiras, local hot shoes Matthew Kraft and Rickert rounding out the top 5. For the final they lined up with Formal on pole and Filguerias in second. Formal immediately jumped out to a large lead form lap one and held it for the first 5 laps. Just as it was starting to look like Formal would just run away from the others as he had done in the Heats tragedy struck. On lap 6 Formal's chain broke. This handed the lead to Amaya who was embroiled in battle with Filguerias. Unfortunately for Eric Filguerias his handling began to go away and Amaya was able to take the victory with a comfortable lead, Filguerias hung on for 2nd with Lucas Rego taking the final podium spot. Gage Ferguson and Blair Brown rounded out the top 5.
For Amaya, this makes his third win at the Easykart Nationals and he looks forward to representing the USA in Italy for the third time. He becomes the only driver to win championships in two classes and also to repeat as Champion in one class.

Joffrey Amaya #344 - 2007 Easykart 100cc Grand National Champion
Easy 125 Light : In qualifying Dane Ierna set a blistering lap that was three tenths clear of the field with Juan Arenas (2006 Easykart 125cc Light Champion), Pierre Albrecht, Ryan Fowler, and Juan Valderrama rounding out the top 5. Heat One there was a five way fight for the lead throughout the event with multiple lead and position changes among all five drivers but in the end Albrecht sat out on top with Ierna 2nd, Valderrama 3rd, Arenas 4th and Daniel Delgado in 5th. Heat Two saw yet another five way battle for the lead ensue this time it was Ryan Fowler taking top honors, Ierna 2nd yet again, Arenas 3rd, Valderrama 4th, and Albrecht rounded out the top 5. Heat Three saw even more lead changes with the top 6 all fighting amongst each other for the win, this time Valderrama took top honors, Fowler 2nd, Albrecht 3rd, Arenas 4th, and Oscar Veloza 5th. Dane Ierna came across the line in third but was disqualified in tech.
In the final, Valderrama and Albrecht were on the front row. As the green flag dropped the Light drivers put on a show for the crowd to see that went on from lap to lap. Valderrama took the lead and was able to hold everyone back for the duration of the event but in tech there was an irregularity found with his motor and he was disqualified. This promoted Ryan Fowler to the win with Arenas 2nd and Ierna coming back from his earlier DQ to finish 3rd. Oscar Veloza and Jamie Shahan rounded out the top 5. The Light field was deep with talent and could have fell anyway after the sixteen lap final. The fastest race lap of the entire event went to the relatively in-experienced Oscar Veloza with a 57.919 on this one mile track. Ierna was able to back up his pole time of 58.069 with a race lap of 57.960, making Veloza and Ierna the only drivers to break into 57's .
Fowler was able to back up his 2003 win as the Easykart 125cc Light Panamericano Champion with this 2007 USA Easykart Grand Nationals title and will become the first driver to represent the USA in World competition in both Easykart and Rotax.

Ryan Fowler #19 - 2007 Easykart 125cc Light Grand National Champion
Easy 125 Heavy: In qualifying in was local hot shoe Brett Thompson putting down a lap 4 tenths clear of the field followed by Manuel Villalobos (2005 Easykart 125cc Heavy Champion), Phil Curtis, Graham Gaiger, and Camilo Rico (2006 Easykart 125cc Heavy Champion). Heat One saw some controversy when Villalobos was punted out of the lead by Thompson. Thompson would later cross the stripe first but would receive a 5 position penalty from the Officials for the incident. This allowed Pedro Iglesias (El Salvador) to take the win with Gaiger 2nd , Curtis 3rd and the Kreysa brothers Jose and Francisco from El Salvador rounding off the top five. Heat Two saw a cleaner battle between Thompson and Villalobos with Thompson just edging out Villalobos for the win. Phil Curtis narrowly beat Graham Gaiger to the 3rd position and Jose Kreysa completed the top five. Heat three was all Villalobos as he cruised to an easy 5 second victory over a consistent Jose Kreysa and Thompson. Camilo Rico claimed a hard fought fourth place with Raul Gonzalez taking a well deserved 5th.
The sixteen lap final saw Brett Thompson and Jose Kreysa starting on the front row. The feature started off with a big bang quite literally as Graham Gaiger tangled with Jose Kreysa and flipped off Fangio (the fast downhill sweeper on the back straight) on lap one. This brought out the first red-flag of the weekend. All the drivers walked away unhurt and mechanics were given time to do any kart repairs and then the race was restarted. When racing resumed it was all Brett Thompson as he opened up a lead and cruised to the finish with a hard charging Villalobos finishing behind him. The most consistent driver of the weekend Jose Kreysa, took home a well deserved 3rd with Phil Curtis and Camilo Rico rounding out the top 5.
A well deserved win by local favorite Thompson, using a brand new Easykart he purchased just days prior to the weekend. Thompson has been racing Easykarts for just over a year and was extremely pleased to triumph over past Champions Rico and Villalobos.

Brett Thompson - 2007 Easykart 125cc Heavy Grand National Champion
Easykart 125cc TAG Shifter : This weekend saw the debut of the Easykart 125cc TAG Shifter in national competition. The field was small but the competition was tight. Adjusting best to the new shifter karts was Alex Quinones. Fastest in all practice sessions on Friday, he took the pole over the more experienced Raul Gonzalez by just over a second. Following them was JC Courreges (Monticello Karting co-owner), Jamieson Smith and Elvis Faria. Heat One was action packed as Gonzalez and Quinones fought for the lead. However, Quinones had an incident with Faria that knocked his nose cone off and ended his first heat in a DNF. That sent him to the back of the pack with Gonzalez taking the victory over JC Courreges and Smith. Heat Two was similar with Raul taking the win over Quinones and Faria following them home in third position. Heat Three was another battle between Gonzalez and Quinones with Gonzalez coming out the victor.
In the final, Gonzalez got the jump on the start and took an immediate lead over Quinones. Quinones looked to have a better kart and stalked Gonzalez until the half way point. The half-way crossed flags seemed to have been Quinones' signal to make his move, he dove down the instead of Gonzalez taking the lead. He would not relinquish this lead again as he took a very popular victory in the shifter class. Raul Gonzalez's day took a turn for the worst when a flat tire ended his day. At the stripe it was Alex Quinones in 1st , Elvis Faria in 2nd and JC Courreges in 3rd.
This is Alex's biggest accomplishment in karting and displayed his happiness by lifting his elder brother Stevie a few feet off the ground at the scale area. Stevie never races, but has attended every race that Alex has ever participitated in. Hopefully Stevie is able to accompany Alex to Italy and hopefully Alex will have another reason to celebrate and lift Stevie again.

Alex Quinones #71 - 2007 Easykart 125cc Shifter Grand National Champion
All these Champions now prepare to represent the USA, as Team USA, at the 2007 Easykart World Finals in Cervia, Italy on October 18th - 20th. Easykart Americas thanks its many sponsors for helping make this event a success, RYSA Racing, Red Bull, Moroso Karting, Monticello Kart & Motor Club.
2007 Easykart Grand Nationals Sept 13th 2007 |

 |
Easykart Americas and the Monticello Kart Club will be hosting the 2007 Easykart Grand Nationals this coming weekend at the Monticello Karting & Motor Club just east of Tallahassee, Florida. The three day event runs September 14-16 at this track designed by Pablo Montoya, father of NASCAR star and former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya.
Easykart drivers will be converging on this gorgeous 17 turn, one-mile track to vie for the titles of Easykart Grand National Champions in the Easykart 60cc, Easykart 100cc, Easykart 125cc Light, Easykart125cc Heavy and Easykart 125cc Shifter classes. All class winners will be receiving an all-expenses paid trip to the Easykart World Finals in Cervia, Italy in October 2007. Also on the schedule is the Easykart 50cc Kid Kart, run as an exhibition class prior to each round of practice and racing.
The 2007 Easykart Championship Series (ECS) saw racing throughout the USA with drivers required to participate in a minimum of four races in order to qualify to compete this weekend. Drivers in attendance will also be from Venezuela, El Salvador and Mexico. USA drivers will include well known Easykart competitors as Pietro Fittipaldi, Eric Filgueiras, Alex Karabourniotis, Joffre Amaya, Daniel Formal, Juan Sebastian Arenas, Dominic Sheer, Frederico Montoya, Manuel Villalobos, and Ryan Fowler.
Pablo Montoya, is quoted as saying, "2007 has been a year of re-establishing the Easykart brand as a great product that is important for our market place as the economy continues to see more and more competitors looking at cost savings in karting. Easykart has always been a true driver series with competitors using identical spec equipment with both the chassis and the motors." He continued to point out that the Easykart project was the brain child of Oscar Sala, owner of Birel Spa, who was seeking a product to reduce the costs involved in karting in order to keep more drivers competing in the sport. The entry list for the 2007 Easykart Grand Nationals has more than doubled from 2006 and has been as a direct result of a re-organization within Easykart Americas. The re-structured company has been placing great emphasis on customer feedback, higher inventory levels and a proper dealer network. Easykart Americas sees the introduction of the new Easykart 125cc TaG Shifter to be another instrument to draw attention to the brand as it re-establishes itself in the USA.
This weekend's event is being sponsored by Monticello Karting, RYSA Racing, Red Bull, Moroso Karting and Easykart Americas. The Red Bull Easykart driver welcome party is free for all Grand Nationals participants and is scheduled for 7pm Friday the 14th at AJ Sports Bar and Grill in Tallahassee Florida. Several local businesses are involved in the promotion of the event, with Hooters Girls being in attendance as umbrella girls as well as a Tallahassee radio station will be providing live on-air coverage of all the Finals on Sunday.
Easykart Americas is looking forward to great event weekend with lots of great racing as it gets ready to crown its 2007 Grand National champions in each class |
